Professional Tree Pruning

ISK Tree Services provides professional tree pruning throughout Central Florida with a focus on proper structure, risk reduction, clearance, and long-term tree preservation. Our pruning recommendations are based on the condition, species, structure, and individual needs of each tree.

Our Tree Pruning Approach

Crown Cleaning

Removes dead, broken, diseased, or damaged branches from the canopy. Crown cleaning can improve safety and appearance while maintaining the tree’s natural structure and form.

Reduction Pruning

Reduction pruning is one of the primary pruning methods ISK Tree Services specializes in. It selectively shortens overextended branches to reduce end weight and mechanical stress on larger limbs.

This type of pruning is especially valuable in Florida, where trees grow nearly year-round and are regularly exposed to severe storms. Rapid growth can sometimes produce branches that become excessively long and heavy, increasing leverage and the likelihood of branch failure. Proper reduction pruning helps manage that length and weight before it becomes a larger structural concern.

Structural Pruning

Develops stronger branch structure by selectively pruning competing, poorly attached, or overextended branches. This is especially valuable for young trees and can reduce the need for major corrective pruning later.

What Proper Pruning Looks Like

Explore three pruning techniques our ISA Certified Arborists use to improve tree structure, manage risk, and preserve a natural canopy.

01 / Selective canopy management

Reduction Pruning

Reduction pruning selectively shortens overextended limbs back to appropriate lateral branches. In the annotated illustration, red shows portions proposed for removal and blue marks the intended cut locations.

02 / Deadwood and clearance

Crown Cleaning

Crown cleaning removes dead, broken, or damaged branches. Where needed, carefully selected lower limbs may also be raised for clearance, without unnecessary removal of healthy canopy.

03 / Early structural development

Structural Pruning

On young trees, selectively managing competing leaders and poorly positioned branches can help develop one dominant central leader and a stronger long-term structure.

Why Proper Pruning Matters

Trees in Central Florida are exposed to strong storms, heavy rain, rapid growth, and year-round environmental stress. Proper pruning can help manage branch length and weight, improve structure, maintain necessary clearance, and reduce avoidable stress on the tree.

The goal is not simply to remove branches. Every pruning cut should have a purpose and should support the long-term health, structure, and safety of the tree.

Pruning Practices We Avoid

ISK Tree Services focuses on proper arboricultural pruning practices. We do not recommend excessive or indiscriminate pruning that can weaken trees or create poor structure.

  • Tree topping
  • Excessive canopy thinning
  • Lion-tailing
  • Removing large amounts of healthy canopy without a clear objective
  • Improper “hurricane cuts” on palms

Isaiah and sierra were true professionals. true arborists. they didn't just come and hack up the trees. they were methodical and took their time and were reasonably priced.
Highly recommended!
